Fleas and ticks are pests that feed on blood meals to survive. Fleas are insects that typically live outside in the grass of your front and back yard, but they can infest your home.
Similarly, ticks, while part of the arachnid family, tend to live in thicker brush or trees, but can also wind up inside where they can bite pets or people (especially if your neighborhood has deer!).
Fleas will take a bite and move on to their next blood meal, while ticks burrow under the skin to get constant access until they’re engorged. Any time you encounter fleas or ticks, you and your pets are at risk for things like tapeworms, allergic reactions, or even bloodborne pathogens.
